@addison.jarman: Most ppl have NO IDEA this exists. 👀 In some states, family members can actually get paid through Medicaid programs for caring for a loved one with disabilities or special needs. It's not called the same thing everywhere (CDPAP is just New York's version), so search: ✅ "[Your State] paid family caregiver" ✅ "[Your State] self-directed Medicaid services" ✅ "[Your State] HCBS waiver family caregiver" Every state has different rules, qualifications, and who can get paid, but it's worth checking—you could be missing out on benefits your family already qualifies for. Tag someone who needs to see this. ❤️
these programs are so wonderful! long term care facilities are understaffed nightmares that no elderly person should have to experience. That said, they don't pay that much. I used a program like this when I took care of my parents at the end of their life. I can't remember how much we were paid but it definitely wasn't as much as we could earn working. My dad needed 24/7 care at the end and my husband had to stop working to provide it while I went to work. it was still a significant financial burden but this program made it possible for him to spend his last confused years with family that loved him. I'm so grateful for that!

Medicaid requires you first to be broke then they'll pay for care. Dont think this is easy...

I was told that after the person passes away, that money comes out of the estate to pay the state back.

Yes but you have to have Medicaid or VA funding and it's considered taxable income. so unless your loved one qualifies or has Medicaid or VA benefits you can't get paid to be a caregiver..

Pretty sure here I. Oregon they only pay 15$ an hour up to a certain amount of hours and your parent has to be low income. Please correct me if I am wrong. I looked into a little while ago

My daughter does this for those kids that refuse to take care of their parents. She makes pretty good money and she loves it. Thank God I have a daughter like that that will take care of me when I get old.

I’m in NY my mother requires round the clock care and the only approved me for 23 1/2 hours per week at $15 per hour. Unfortunately, it is more financially and physically better for me to put her in a nursing home. At least she will get around the clock care and medical treatment. And what’s really sad is that it’s gonna cost the insurance more money to cover her nursing home care then it would ever cost them to cover my costs.

Does it protect you from Medicaid estate recovery? I don’t think that program does.

in the state of Delaware they will pay you $10 an hour 40 hours a week. not sure if it's based on state, I would assume it would be. I was just check with your state's department of aging.
