What people do not understand is caregiving is a 24 hour job, especially if the parent has dementia. Working will be impossible and there is very little resources available to those who care for elderly parents at home.

I’m the sole caregiver for my mom. I’ve been doing it in some capacity off and on since I was 15. I love my mom dearly, but it definitely has affected my life with often no acknowledgement. I love her and we have a good relationship, so I do it. But it does come with major sacrifices. I have given up parts of my life, and childhood wounds definitely get a highlight!!

Yep, I cared for my mom. We had a great relationship but being a caregiver was miserable. She had dementia. I did it all until I couldn’t anymore and put her in memory care, luckily it was a nice place and I went there almost daily to make sure she was well taken care of.

I was the caregiver for my mom & a lot of what your saying is true, I was the one doing the most, I moved from the 🇺🇸 to Dominican Republic, lived with my mom she passed away a month ago do I regret it, not really, I sacrificed a lot I told my daughters never to do the same it’s not their responsibility, I believe we need to plan for our old age 🙏
