They are also GETTING TO THE POINT while still leaving mystery and us wanting more. I love a slow burn, but drawing some mysteries out too long often make the reveal at the end a letdown. “You made us wait 7 years for THAT?” Other shows would have drawn out the heir thing for years. We would have wait to season 4 to get the backstory with the pilgrims. We get the satisfaction of some answers while still leaving “wtf was in that hole, and what do you mean there are 8 bells right before the credits role?” Best show of the year.

Like, it is that deep. The finale was so good. Clemmons is such a good character. He represents so many people in this country. His arc as someone who knows there’s something wrong but willfully ignoring it until he’s directly confronted and harmed by it is *chef’s kiss*. And then his over reactivity in the finale when he thinks killing Ruth will fix everything. As if there’s any way that a multi generational and multi faceted problem can be fixed by something so simple as a single action.
