@quranicdeen: read that again. because sometimes we forget how badly we wanted to leave the thing we are now missing. you begged Allah to remove that person from your life. you begged Allah to take away that habit. you begged Allah to free your heart from that attachment. you cried because you knew something was hurting you. you knew it was pulling you away from Allah. then Allah opened a door for you. He gave you distance. He gave you a way out. He gave you a chance to breathe again. and now after some time passes you start remembering only the good parts. you forget the nights you felt guilty. you forget the emptiness after the sin. you forget how far it pushed you from Allah. you only remember the temporary happiness. that is how shaytan works. he shows you the old prison and makes you forget you were the one begging to escape it. imagine someone being trapped in a dark room for years. they cry. they beg for someone to open the door. then finally the door opens. they walk outside. they feel the sunlight. they feel free. then one day they look back at the room and think "maybe it wasn't that bad." why would you walk back into the same place Allah helped you leave? why would you return to a wound after Allah gave it time to heal? why would you go back to something you once made dua to be protected from? sometimes what you miss is not the thing itself. sometimes you miss the feeling it gave you. and there is a difference. you don't miss the distance from Allah. you miss the temporary comfort. you don't miss the sin. you miss the few seconds of happiness before the regret came. you don't miss the person. you miss the moments that made you forget the pain. but Allah sees the whole picture. you only see a small part. Allah knows what that thing was doing to your heart. Allah knows what it would have become. Allah knows what you were protected from. so don't question the door that Allah closed. some doors closing are not punishments. some doors closing are mercy. sometimes Allah removes something from your life because He knows if it stayed you would lose something much more valuable. your connection with Him. your peace. your heart. your akhirah. so if you ever feel the temptation to go back remember this. you asked Allah for freedom. do not return to the cage. you asked Allah to heal you. do not reopen the wound. you asked Allah to bring you closer. do not run back to what was taking you away. the thing you are missing might be the very thing Allah saved you from.
