This happened to my wife’s uncle on family tree DNA. Sadly, he had no kids so the branch died. Because he didn’t match his sister it did cause a lot of confusion and conspiracy theories before Family tree DNA figured it out.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but how do scientists decide who is Chromosomal Adam and Eve? I fear I am missing a vital piece of understanding on this because my current logic is ‘well if this individual is Chromosomal Eve why is it her and not her mother? Because is everyone is descended from Eve aren’t we all descended from her mother too? Or is it that her chromosome was changed or evolved in some fashion that has endured through the ages?
