For anyone wondering, the arvanites are greeks. When the proto albanians descended into modern-day central and south albania with the slavic invasions, they mixed with the greek element there. it is those mixed, albanian speaking people who went on to move to greece in the middle ages, and they would mix with the greeks. We are talking about an orthodox population who's proto albanian ancestry is minimal and only tie to albanians is their language. Arvanites are greeks and proud of it 🇬🇷

My paternal grandfather was born in Central Albania, but he used to say his paternal ancestors weren't from there and our surname was actually fake, but he didn't know the village they came from and their true surname. I did the MyHeritage DNA test and the area with the highest corrispondence to my DNA is the area between Preveza and Filat, and according to MyHeritage a genetic group that originated in Preveza left between the end of 1700s and start of 1800s and migrated up to the north coming to the area my grandfather was born just around the times my grandfather's father was born (1900s/1910s). The most interesting thing is that according to MyHeritage it seems I may have relations with both the Boçari and Xhavella clans
