as a hog farmer with a feed mill I could give two shits about splits what I don't want is every bolt and nut and piece's of metal that destroy my mill hammers.
we pay more for cleaned peas saves the feedmill on shut downs and wear on moveable parts.

If you don’t want a discount for splits then you’ll have to take up the issue with overseas buyers because there are specifications for splits in official Canadian grades and sales contracts made with overseas buyers who expect the percentage of splits to be below a certain level. Canadian exporters can’t dictate that to be changed. And typically overseas buyers want the splits even less than the 3% allowed in #2 Canada yellow peas. And the majority are used for human consumption not feed
