@summithound: The first 5 minutes of your walk determine how the rest of the walk will go. If your dog starts the walk pulling, ignoring commands, and dragging you down the street, they're already setting the rules. But if you begin with structure, calmness, and engagement, your dog is far more likely to stay focused for the rest of the walk. Don't rush out the door. Practice waiting at thresholds, require a calm state of mind, and make your dog earn forward movement. A good walk doesn't start when you're halfway down the blockโit starts the moment you grab the leash. How do your walks start: calm and controlled, or chaotic and pulling? ๐
