without those dunes the homes don't exist!! the OBX coastline has to be rebuilt constantly because it receeds 1-3 inches a year because of the strong tides

The house we stayed at had a dune we had to walk up. No joke it had to be 10 ft high lol I said no and walked to the public access area. I was not climbing up it.
