17:1 is kind of the max of compression before it becomes a diesel

If I recall correctly, 410 sprints have run this compression on methanol.

Fellow guy with an excess of 17-1 compression. Had to put a 16volt battery in it. Cause a 12v wouldn’t hardly start it 🤣🤣🤣

Dynamic compression, as he mentioned at the end of the clip, is the number that really matters. Pretty fun messing with compression calculators to have the same static and different dynamic with cam selection. Helped me understand overlap and LSA as it relates to rpm ceiling and where the power is most prevalent in the curve as a whole

What’s the point of high compression if your cam profile changes dynamic compression significantly? Is there a benefit or is it just to say it has 17.2:1 compression

17:1 is totally achievable. im 95% sure there was a class of sprint car or something small like that, that had sbcs with 17:1.
