@twofurtheroad: No matter how many Great Lakes freighters you see, it never gets old. We watched the 740-foot Algoma Strongfield enter the Superior harbor from Wisconsin Point. Seeing one of these massive ships glide through the channel is something you have to experience for yourself. It feels like you can almost reach out and touch it as it passes so close. This entry is a lot less fanfare than Duluth, more low key, and just as incredible. Interesting fact, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald departed from this port that stormy November on what would become her final journey over 50 years ago. #lakesuperior #greatlakes #freighter #wisconsin #edmundfitzgerald
