JIS fits Philips as well as a Philips screwdriver, but a Philips screwdriver will chew up a JIS screw.

I restore old boats and cars, and I've found that a JIS screwdriver works better in both JIS and Phillips, less likely to cam out, less likely to strip.

I talked to a neighbour about this topic. The answer was "there is no standard " all this screws are different in one way or another. You can spend a lot of time to identify the different variants.

JIS is solid. Robertson best BUT the generally smaller shank/shaft size means your driver better be made of strong/tough alloy. For most smaller fasteners Robertson works really well.
