I'll tell you what we did - When they're at the age of starting to read, we had a fairly early bedtime BUT we allowed them to read until they fell asleep. No electronics, just books. Was actually before they had a tablet. They're 12 now and LOVE reading and can read at a highschool level. We don't limit screentime, and they choose to read all the time, rather than scroll. It can be costly when they want all the books though.

I used to be as quiet as possible and pretend to be asleep on the couch and have my legs on my mom while she was watching either desperate housewives or lost those show eventually became my favourite shows and I got excited for “bedtime” be it would be time for our show.
