Selling a car with $10k in addons, $5k above sticker, and at 12% interest… yeah, it’s the dealers.

I agree with you to a point, however the cost of new cars have far outpaced the rate of inflation with very little justification. Then you have dealers putting add-ons on cars, driving up the price, most of which will never be recovered on trade-in. Granted, the people who pay over MSRP, don’t put enough down and take out long-term loans on rapidly depreciating assets are definitely to blame, the dealers and manufacturers contribute as well.

While all of those are valid points for negative equity , what is not being considered is all of those points are caused by dealerships , and they're insane markups , as well as manufacturers overpricing their vehicles. People would be able to afford to put 20 to 40% down and not have extended finance terms. If prices were actually affordable And not come with egregious dealer , markups like what ford did

People need to stop buying cars with emotion and start buying logically and that will end a lot of the problems

It’s still negative equity if you have to pay your way out of it. Cars simply aren’t worth what the market is asking for.

Get rid of new car dealers. They're not needed. All the bullshit (i.e., holdback, rate markups, add-ons) is not for the consumer. Let us go direct to the manufacturer. Used car dealers would be a different story since they don't make used cars. Even there, there's a lot of the same BS.

I don't know if I've ever heard a more arrogant deceptive opinion than this. It's the customers fault that there is negative equity? Comparing a customer buying a car over MSRP at a high interest rate on an overinflated liability is like scolding someone for buying their shoes at a mall instead of Walmart. Walmart may not sell the Air Jordans you want. And the problem is not negative equity it's depreciation and standards. It's the whole reason there is an auto industry. Big Pharma, I mean the Auto Industry created a formula that plays on emotions. I have a lot more to say
