@yeli.heidecker: Letting go of stuff and living within our means has been one of the greatest upgrades we’ve ever made. Three years ago, we had a choice: stay in our 3,000 sq. ft. home or start over and intentionally build a simpler life with more financial margin. We chose the second. We bought land, downsized our family from 3,000 sq. ft. to a 1,600 sq. ft. barndominium, and have slowly been building our home one project at a time, all while staying within our means. This is our dream life. We’re slowly building it together 🫶🏻 The difference is that our dream stopped being about keeping up with trends, buying things we don’t need, keeping up with the joneses. It became about having more peace, more freedom, less financial pressure, more time as a family, being able to give freely later on, and the ability to build slowly instead of rushing to “have it all.” Social media often makes it seem like success means the bigger house, the luxury finishes, and the picture-perfect life. Those things are easier to measure from the outside. They’re the external things after all, but my goal here is to remind you that a rich life isn’t always about the external stuff We chose a different kind of wealth. If you’re living within your means while slowly building the life you want, you’re not behind. You’re building a foundation that lasts. Stick around as we continue to turn our barndo into our dream home budget-friendly project at a time and our life 🤍 #livingwithinmeans #smallerhome #barndominiumliving #newbuild #barndominium

Yeli Heidecker :
Just to clarify something because I think a few people missed my point…
When I said we didn’t choose the “aesthetic” house, I wasn’t saying I don’t think our home is beautiful.
I genuinely think our little barndo is the cutest thing ever, and I’ve loved making it our home one project at a time.
What I meant was aesthetic by social media standards.
The oversized new build.
The perfectly styled rooms.
The luxury finishes.
The version of success we’re constantly told to chase.
That’s what we chose not to prioritize.
Because at the end of the day, I don’t think what other people think about your home matters nearly as much as what your home gives you.
Our home gives us financial margin.
It gives us peace.
It gives us freedom.
It gives us room to dream.
We chose a smaller mortgage over a bigger payment.
And for us, that has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
