I couldn't open bottles, hold a pen strongly enough to write coherently, or brush my hair... I had surgery to release the tendon and while I'm not, nor will likely ever be, 100% back in strength, I'm no longer in pain

Watch out for it coming back. Mike came back 3 times so they had to do the operation. No one understands how painful de quervains is. Feel better!
