i’m european and i have only ever been to one home where they had carpet. it was at my aunt’s house and she would always freak out if someone even did as much as eat a cookie in the room with the carpet and she would check our socks or feet before walking into the room with the carpet to make sure we weren’t dragging dirt in. so my only memory is that rooms with carpets are super unchill bc you have to be too careful not to make a mess

European here! yeah, I'll stick to wood and tile for flooring. I do have some loose carpets that are machine washable. I have a dog, a cat, and 2 kids, everything needs to be easily washable and/or replaceable. my grandmother has carpeting in her living room, she has a yearly cleaning routine and vacuums it weekly, I still hate it and highly prefer hard flooring

carpet is worse when you have asthma or a mold allergy. I'm glad I only have 2 rooms with carpet. I do run air purifiers all the time though
