But I’m confused, if you were to just send the money back it would just be coming from your Venmo balance and not your own money, so is it only a scam to where they are able to get money into their personal banking account from using a credit card?

Okay this is what Google says and when I contacted venmo they were like "yeah send it back to them you're safe" and acted like it was ridiculous to ask and there was no possibility that I could've been scammed by that.

I had this happen with $25. I reported it to Venmo & they said wait for the sender to respond & they never did so - lucky me! 😆 I waited FOREVER to use it, though; I was so suspicious haha

In my head it doesn’t make sense that this would work because it just goes to your Venmo balance? So like as long as you don’t transfer it to your bank why would it matter?

We had a woman send like $1000! For party stuff to my husband, we said hey we’ll call the bank, the bank notified Venmo to reverse the charge and they said the bank can’t do anything. The girl kept bugging and saying that the cake person or something for her daughters bday put her phone number in but messed up the number and it sent to us, sorry girl that’s her problem she should give you a discount. Wait till Monday when Venmo handles it! Sorry

I once accidentally paid the wrong person with the same name and didn’t do the phone number confirmation- my bad. I asked the person to give it back and they did. I’m so sad this is a scam, because some people do make mistakes.
