@travis.woo.trades: I’ve made over $700,000 trading in the last year, and this is basically my setup: a $200 laptop, my phone, and one monitor. That’s it. Most of the time I’m not even on the computer much. A lot of what I do is either long-term, systematic, or automated. I place a lot from my phone. Sometimes I’m barely on the laptop at all. That’s why I think people are focused on the wrong things. You do not need some crazy multi-monitor cave to make money. You do not need expensive gear to look like a trader. And you definitely do not need to build your life around staring at charts. If you’re actually building systems, the setup matters way less than people think. Now, if you’re a real quant and you’re running heavy data, backtests, and large computational work, that’s different. Then sure, better hardware matters. But for most people, fancy equipment is just another distraction. Same with the fancy car. It looks cool, but it doesn’t really change the outcome. I care way more about having tools that are good enough and a system that actually works than looking impressive while doing the wrong thing. That’s how I see it. What do you think?
