Gyurme yeshe :
The Nine Breaths of Purification is a foundational breathing technique originating from the ancient Tibetan Bön and Buddhist traditions. It recalibrates your nervous system and clears mental "poisons" (anger, attachment, and ignorance) in just five minutes. [1, 2]
The 3-Step Practice
Round 1: Clearing Anger (Left Channel)
Hand position: Form soft fists with your thumbs tucked at the base of your ring fingers, and rest the backs of your hands on your thighs. [1]
Inhale: Raise your right hand, use your right ring finger to close your right nostril, and inhale slowly through the left nostril. Visualize pure, green light entering and filling the left energy channel. [1, 2]
Exhale: Switch by closing the left nostril with your right ring finger, and exhale slowly through the right nostril. Visualize all anger and tension dissolving. [1, 2]
Repeat 3 times. [1]
Round 2: Clearing Attachment (Right Channel)
Inhale: Use your left ring finger to close the left nostril, and inhale deeply through the right nostril. Visualize pure white light filling the right energy channel. [1]
Exhale: Close the right nostril with your left ring finger, and exhale through the left nostril. Visualize releasing grasping, attachment, and desire. [1, 2]
Repeat 3 times. [1]
Round 3: Clearing Ignorance (Central Channel)
Inhale: Rest both hands on your thighs. Inhale deeply through both nostrils, drawing pure light down your central channel to your navel. [1, 2, 3]
Exhale: Exhale slowly through both nostrils, visualizing any remaining confusion, doubt, or ignorance rising up the central channel and out the crown of your head. [1, 2]
Repeat 3 times. [1]
After the final exhalation, rest your hands, keep your eyes open or gently closed, and sit in silent, spacious awareness.
