BURMA BAKLAVA Ingredients * 1 tea glass milk (100 ml) * 1 tea glass vegetable oil (100 ml) * 1 tea glass water (100 ml) * 1 egg * 2 tablespoons yogurt * 1 packet baking powder * 1 tablespoon vinegar * 3–3.5 cups flour * For rolling out the dough: wheat starch or corn starch Filling * Hazelnuts, walnuts, or pistachios For Brushing * 150 g butter * 1 tea glass vegetable oil Syrup * 4 cups sugar * 4 cups water * 1 slice lemon ✅ Put the syrup ingredients in a pot. Once it starts boiling, cook for 20 minutes, then turn off the heat. ⸻ Preparation 1. Combine all the dough ingredients and knead until you get a soft, non-sticky dough. 2. Divide the dough into 13 equal pieces and shape them into balls. 3. Lightly press the dough balls into starch, place them on a tray, cover, and let them rest for 15–20 minutes. 4. Roll out each rested dough ball as thin and large as possible, using plenty of starch. 5. Sprinkle your preferred filling (the author used hazelnuts) along one edge. 6. Roll the dough around a rolling pin and scrunch it toward the center to create the characteristic wrinkled shape. 7. Remove the rolling pin and place the shaped pastry in the baking tray. 8. Repeat with all dough pieces. 9. Cut into equal portions and brush generously with the melted butter and oil mixture. 10. Bake in a preheated oven at 160°C (320°F) until golden brown, checking occasionally. 11. Pour the cold syrup over the hot baklava immediately after removing it from the oven. 12.
