Tellement vrai, ça m'a raté une fois quand j'avais la mauvaise personne au foyer, Dieu m'a donné une seconde chance avec une bonne épouse.

Slightly vulnerable post but today was a hard one. I am solo parenting, moving, prepping my studio for Christmas marketing and just overall completely burnt out. I was videoing parts of the studio set up and accidentally caught this moment on video. I sent it to my best friends jokingly saying “and this is where we should have all gone to bed for the day” because I lost my coffee. I saw the moment as me hitting my max and crashing out. They saw it and pointed out how well I reacted and how safe my daughter knows she is when she makes a mistake. While I felt horrible about how I reacted and how sternly I spoke to her, they saw me regulate myself before continuing to address her and after I sat and thought about it, and watched the video a hundred more times. It dawned on me that maybe I really am healing and doing a pretty good job at being the mom I needed. Had I made this mistake as a child, I would have been yelled at, berated for at least 20 minutes about how I needed to be aware of my body, or been told to stand in a corner for the remainder of the time we were there. I would have spent the rest of the week walking on eggshells knowing I messed up and that if I made another mistake, I could expect even worse. I did not grow up being taught to regulate. I grew up hiding, reading the footsteps coming down the hall, knowing I needed to start apologizing before the mistake had even been processed. But my daughter knows that she won’t get a volatile reaction from me and that she doesn’t need to run or apologize or be scared of me. And that is one of the biggest accomplishments I could have as a parent. #motherhood #healing #healingfromchildhoodtrauma #breakingcycles #doingbetter
