@junovizsla5: I usually wouldn’t share anything like this because 1. I’m not a dog trainer and 2. Out of respect for Puppy School and my trainer! BUT i’ve had SO Many people ask and message, and I didn’t want to gatekeep either! This is how we got our 11 month Vizsla to settle in public places, a drill we have been doing EVERY single day since she was 2 months old - so one that takes time for sure but has paid off massively - as anyone with a working breed will know this is a huge challenge We also are still in adolescence so may face setbacks with this too! But here’s how we taught our puppy to settle in public places. 1. Reward them for going on a blanket 2. Ask them to lie down on the blanket 3. Start to mark the lying of a blanket with the word ‘settle’ 4. Throw treats between her front paws so she doesnt have to move 5. Expand the situations in which you do this once you have success - busier places, longer durations. Start small though. 6. Graduate from treats to tethering And that’s now we got our working breed dog to settle in public places! #settlertraining #dogsettle #pubdog #pullytraining #howtosettletrain
