This is a very one-sided take. Saying Tigranes was "just crushed" is like telling Napoleon's story by mentioning only Waterloo. Before Rome, Tigranes defeated Parthia, took the title "King of Kings," and built an empire with numerous vassal states (Syria, Iberia, etc.). When Rome attacked at its peak, Tigranes was betrayed by his own son, yet under the Treaty of Artashat (66 BC), Pompey did NOT destroy Armenia or depose him. Tigranes kept his crown, his core country, and his title, turning Armenia into a powerful Roman ally/buffer state, not a colony
