Final Stage Of Major Transmission Repair. • We continue the gearbox repair project on a MAN TGE / Volkswagen Crafter equipped with the 2.0 TDI EA288 diesel engine. This is the third and final part of the transmission repair series focused on restoring the gearbox after a major differential failure caused by wear in the right driveshaft connection. • In the previous parts, the transmission was fully disassembled, internal components were inspected, a brand-new differential was installed, and proper bearing preload and internal clearances were adjusted using calibrated adjustment shims. • In this video, we move to the final stage of the repair process - complete gearbox assembly. We install the differential assembly into its final position, assemble the main transmission shafts, shift forks, and all internal transmission components responsible for proper gearbox operation. • After the internal assembly is completed, the gearbox housing is fully closed and we move on to installing new sealing components. New axle shaft seals are installed, since reusing old seals after this level of repair is never recommended. • We also replace the input shaft seal. This seal is critical because it prevents transmission oil leakage between the gearbox and the engine while protecting the clutch assembly from contamination. • One interesting design feature of this gearbox is that the axle shaft openings are not fully open through the housing.
