I think ppl are missing the point. He's not referring to situations like death in the family or sentimental moments like when they express their appreciation for you. He's talking about their behavior and/or words towards you. Do not allow these kids to see your triggers, especially when it comes to getting a reaction out of you.

honestly, I genuinely boohoo cried my first year. I think it helped them see me as a human bc of how straight forward I was. granted I wasn’t crying about them but idk kinda the best thing for me

I received a text that my soul dog had cancer. I read it at my desk when I had a class. My most challenging student saw me cry and immediately: Miss, what’s wrong. Miss, are you ok. I told him what the text said and he has been an absolute angel during my class. We shared something together.

it really depends tbh, my first year of teaching PE the kids did make me cry TWICE, but as the year progressed and we started bonding the situation never happened and they never disrespected me again. it was elementary but it was them 5th graders lol

not true. I got surplussed and my high school students students comforted me as I cried after I found out I lost my job at the school I love. They loved me more after that. They were my strength to keep teaching after I was pretty much fired. your wrong on this opinion. we are real people too

I teach seniors and cried way too many times the couple days before they were done and they STILL made fun of me and recorded in between hugs 😭 mid year you’re cooked for real

na it depends how you go about it 😭 i had a super bad day, held it tg, they was overdoing it & not listening. i shed one tear, turned away, and just added some bass in my voice & sat certain students out. the next day they actually apologized
