A milestone gift to me looks like a trip to a place I’ve always wanted to visit or a once in a lifetime opportunity or experience which I believe is absolutely worth it but not all the time as that would defeat the purpose.

Agreeeeee. Yes. I kept saying I was going to buy a very expensive watch. I purchased gold instead. Still felt like a mile stone with instant appreciation vs depreciation.
