Replying to @KING OF DREAM
On June 2nd, Texas Ranch owner Robert Graff, spotted that one of his calves was injured. But this wasn’t the usual sort of injury he’d see during his routine livestock checks — it was a gaping wound filled with a flesh-eating parasite deadly to animals and humans. From that moment, he knew that his ranch was in danger. Graff, 59, looped a rope around the three-week-old animal’s neck at Rock Creek Ranch in La Pryor, about 90 miles west of San Antonio, and pulled it on to the ground to take a closer look. He saw pale maggots writhing in the wound, which confirmed his fears: it was New World screwworm, a parasite not seen in Texas since the 1980s. His ranch had become ground zero, and the consequences for the cattle industry could be devastating. *For news purposes* #cattle #texas #news #farm #animals
