@phoenixpathway: His Withdrawal Is Teaching You To Need Less He is not pulling away because his feelings are hurt he is disappearing to teach you that having needs comes with a penalty. Every time he freezes you out you shrink your expectations just to bring him back. You have shortened your list of requests so quietly that you didn't even notice your standards disappeared. Stop asking smaller. A grown man should not require you to eliminate your needs in order for him to stay present. #relationshipadvice #datingtipsforwomen #feminineenergy #knowyourworth

Therapy from Weird Al is wild. But this awakening was helpful, tbh.

My first bf did this cause I caught him in a lie and wouldn’t let it go, I left him after he did it the first time, cause I also had a dream about it before it happened. But yesss once I sat with what he was doing I seen that it would’ve ended up being those toxic on and off relationships.

What if I’m the one that’s withdrawing, avoiding, and stonewalling?
When I voice my needs, boundaries, or get into arguments inevitably he says “I’m my own man, you’re not going to change me, I’m never going to change” or “you’re being manipulative and vindictive” or “I’m never going to be with a person who does XYZ” I end up apologizing by the end of the conversation usually in tears, agreeing to try harder to meet his needs, and feeling confused. I avoid him for a handful of days after (not out of a want to be chased at all, I just feel days of exhaustion and want to be left alone) and eventually am able to regulate back to normal. He is the one in the relationship that is more communicative and I know my response is avoidant and stonewalling is problematic but I don’t know what to do.

We had a conversation about needs one day. I had one, stop lying to me. He had over 20 needs that he wanted from me. Like what? 🤣
