A smartphone camera is constantly trying to optimize the image. When photographing a very bright object like the Sun, this can lead to: * Digital zoom → pixels are enlarged, which can make the shape appear distorted. * Autofocus → the camera continuously adjusts focus and may create unusual visual artifacts. * Overexposure → the Sun is much brighter than its surroundings, causing the light to “bleed” and making the shape look different. * Atmospheric turbulence → layers of warm and cool air can distort and shimmer the image, making the Sun appear to change shape.

I remember the sun being orange when it used to go down in the evening. now it's white hot. I cant look up near it. it's crazy.

It's called rolling shutter distortion from the camera, nothing strang and pretty normal when filming the sun. Pretty easy to explain ✌️
