omg...You get it bro 😭 I personally believe Genesis has crippling insecurities and sees Sephiroth as himself and as a hero, not necessarily putting him on a pedestal, but rather being incredibly hostile and jealous towards him due to his own insecurities. Sephiroth's desire to be loved for himself and be seen as himself rather than a hero, is really important aswell to their dynamic. You have Sephiroth who knows Genesis sees him for himself but HATES him, and Sephiroth desperately does try to help Genesis, but Genesis is so blinded by his insecurities that he can't see it as anything other than him mocking him. Sephiroth wanting Genesis to love him (Platonically or romantically it depends on hwo you interept it) and Genisis who cant accept someone like Sephiroth could ever love him or even want to help him. its not until Genisis actively seeks out Sephiroth that he realizes that it is too late and Sepiroth tells him,"you will rot." and in that scene you can literally see Genesis's face fall and his eyes widen in distress because he only ever realized Sephiroth's love when he needed it for his own gain and self worth and due to that Sephiroth's rejection breaks him down even more than it would of. Also this is peak.
