@openlynews: Tens of thousands of people marched at Seoul Pride on Saturday (June 13) to demand equal rights for LGBTQ+ people in South Korea. Same-sex marriage isn't legal in the East Asian country, but gay and lesbian couples have won a series of legal victories in the past few years that have given queer South Koreans hope that same-sex weddings could take place in South Korea in the near future. In fact, earlier this month a court in Seoul ruled that a same-sex couple who had shared their lives and finances deserved legal protection. And while LGBTQ+ people aren't protected from discrimination in South Korea, the government recently committed to passing an anti-discrimination law that had long been blocked in parliament.
