@expedition.ola: I already know what everyone is going to ask… “but what about the other dogs?” If you’ve watched our rescue videos before, you’ve probably noticed something, there’s almost never just one dog💔 Unless a dog has been dumped in the middle of nowhere, there are always others. Sometimes a few. Sometimes dozens. Because there are thousands of street dogs in a single town. The truth is, there will always be other dogs. More dogs waiting for help. More dogs in need. More dogs whose stories break our hearts. If we waited until we could save every dog before helping one, nothing would ever change. We can’t save them all. So we focus on the life we can change. Then we do it again. And again. People also ask how we decide which dog to rescue when there are so many in need. There isn’t a right answer for this, but there are a few things we consider. We think about urgency and which dog is in the greatest need of immediate help? We think about impact and preventing the cycle of suffering. We can’t take in puppies for many reasons and tend to lean towards helping adult and often times seniors. We take into consideration who is already in our current pack and what we can realistically take on. If we took on more than we could responsibly handle, we would eventually burn out and help no one. Rescue isn’t about doing everything. It’s about doing something. As you can see, all of these street dogs were fighting to survive. Except for one. The little grey guy. He was so scared he couldn’t even do that. The smallest of the pack. The weakest of the pack. While the others ran toward opportunity, he hid beneath a car and watched it pass him by. That day, we already had three dogs with us, including one we had rescued just 30 minutes earlier. We knew we couldn’t save every dog on that street but we could save him. And we’re so glad we did because the little grey dog hiding beneath that car would go on to have one of the most incredible transformations we’ve ever witnessed. I can’t wait to show you tomorrow🫶🏼
