if you use AMD you can. and for my switch to Nvidia since I'm using bazzite a single command and a reboot and it was working perfectly.

lwk i switched from intel integrated graphics to my rx 570, i just popped the drive out, put it in the new computer, everything fine :)

I'm seriously about to switch my everything over when I upgrade, that way my primary is will be Linux with windows as the gaming distro. though as proton gets better I'll be using it less and less until I delete microslop from my equipment entirely

it's actually the same idea in Linux too. You're going from the Nvidia proprietary/Nouveau driver to the AMD mesa driver. If you use an Intel GPU they actually use the same Mesa driver as well, they just need some extra packages to extend vk support and such.

I install the new graphics card and also install a fresh, clean distro. I keep everything important on external drives. I allow the new distro to deal with the new hardware
