Gum recession is complicated and can have several contributing factors. I have heard many explanations, from brushing too aggressively to other causes. Based only on my personal experience and what I have observed in family members, two factors that appear especially significant are braces and chronic mouth breathing both of which apply to me. I am not a dental professional, so this is simply my personal observation. Since starting Dr. Ellie’s system, the small amount of recession I already had has not reversed, but I also have not noticed it progressing, which I consider encouraging. Personally, I do not believe established gum recession can usually be corrected without some type of professional intervention. I would be very interested to hear Dr. Ellie’s opinion on the pinhole surgical technique. Take this for what it is: one person’s experience and perspective. God bless.
