@jadewarshaw: I disagreed with Dave and lived to tell about it! This is my testimony 😂 lol JK, seriously though, if you can pay cash, and travel without debt, I love the idea of studying abroad! There are many ways to learn, inside of a classroom with a professor is one way, but seeing the world and experiencing different cultures taught me many of my greatest lessons. #studyingabroad #studyabroad #travel @Dave Ramsey
Youth is the time to do this! Studying abroad builds character and makes you a better employee- more reliable and responsible

Do it. It’ll be worth it. It’s not 100k. It’s 20k. Your education is for you, not for anyone else.

I took out a loan for my study abroad experience in New Zealand when I was 21 years old, and even now at 35, I would pay TRIPLE what I paid because it was so life changing for me

Once in a lifetime opportunity. She’ll never regret going, but she will probably regret not going.

Studying abroad in itself might not equal a higher pay check but I believe traveling abroad can improve cultural thinking and help you think outside the box

One time one guy in his 60’s told me that the two most important things he ever did in his life was 1. Have children and 2. Study Abroad… I agree that student loans have gotten out of hand but it will expand your world in ways you never imagined possible. DO IT! It will be the absolute BEST TIME of your LIFE!!!!!!!!

I’m 36 and I wanted to travel so bad my entire life… If she can scrape it together, do it. Otherwise you’ll spend the rest of your life wanting to travel and never getting the money or time to do so…

I’m 35 and SO HAPPY I studied abroad… this was still the only time I’ve gone to Europe or taken a big trip. Once in a lifetime opportunity and it’s cheaper than a normal trip

Study abroad, especially with a foreign language component, is NOT a vacation. You go to a foreign university, and learn valuable life lessons.

I’ve spent the last 2 summers abroad for a research internship, and while it wasn’t quite studying abroad, it did actually lead to a lot of great professional awards/opportunities because it diversified my resume. I ended up getting a 15k scholarship that paid for my senior year of college, I got into several top PhD programs that were fully funded, and was recently awarded a grant from the NSF to pay for the first 3 years of my PhD. For all of these applications, I had a letter of rec from my German supervisor and my application was remembered for my Germany experience. Now, typical study abroad doesn’t always result in this, but sometimes it can be a PHENOMENAL professional opportunity. So yes, it can be a vacation, but it can also be 100% worth it professionally!

Option 1: Use $6-8k to go on a backpacking Europe vacation during summer break ☀️Option 2: Monetize the semester away by documenting it on social media and working 20hs a week in the European destination while in school 🏫
