After 150 applications, I went to apply for the job in-person and was able to talk to the front desk lady. Received a call the same day, interview 1 set up a week later, Interview 2 another week later and I am not starting in two weeks. I am not good at resume writing but I have a great personality and more than enough knowledge of my field of work. I am still astound of how embarrassed I felt applying in person

A polished resume always only meant you knew how to how to write a resume. It’s ridiculous that it weighed so heavily. This is a hellscape. I’m not doing work just to get ghosted. Time to start a business again.

I’d much rather rely on my referral and case study. I’m smarter and cooler than 99% of people with the job. 😂 I was the best student in my class and written about by my professor. But they didn’t hire me.

I still see good and bad resumes. Some resumes are just sloppy. I do feel candidates should be prepared for an interview. I like that they know how to use technology. However I like to see them show their personalities and be themselves. I think interview structure is basically the same questions asked differently. I think the future of AI is you will see more recruiters using resumes and skills assessments to have AI to generate questions to ask in an interview. I have already started to in my recruitment process.

Omg, this is one of the major problems we’re trying to solve through Yourturn. Resumes are dying, but it still surprises me how many companies haven’t moved away from them. I can definitely see the shift towards case studies, projects, and assessments, but those can be incredibly time-consuming for job seekers and often feel like free labour for companies. So maybe that’s not the answer either. That’s why we’re building a platform called Yourturn, designed to replace the traditional hiring system in the AI era by focusing on proven capability rather than resumes alone.
