They had the chance to make the best rpg of all times and probably a new all times classic and they absolutely flopped with the VTMB 2. the game is playable, enjoyable and good story and vibe but its nowhere close to the og 2004 game. the more I play bloodlines 2 the more I hate it because the potential was huge

I think this is fine as a way to get dnd players invested in WoD lore, from there you can introduce the system. Ive always felt like trying to teach someone the deep lore of WoD alongside a brand new system has caused a lot of issues for entry.
