It's impossible. Some of us are whateverineers and can just build these "recipes" from very very little.

idk if the law will pass, as is typically the case the people making the decisions have no understanding of the impact or practical limitation. it's an impossible task, are we going to use AI to imagine if a part is a firearm? that won't work, we can't even reliably detect shapes in a 2D image if any attempts are made to obscure it, 3D is just even more impossible. and if you just hold a database of parts it'll be trivial to simply modify the part enough to be different.

Fear, its one of the ways to control people.
I always laugh at people who sell door locks saying this one is pick proof, this one is termite proof. they install them on a house and the whole house is covered in windows and the owners dont lock the doors.
Fear.

What do you guys think? Is this really gaining momentum or is it temporary hype? This is what happens when a society becomes too out of touch with manufacturing.
From WA hb 2321:
(2) "Equipped with blocking features" means a three-dimensional printer has integrated a software controls process that deploys a firearms blueprint detection algorithm, such that those features identify and reject print requests for firearms or illegal firearm parts with a high degree of reliability and cannot be overridden or otherwise defeated by a user with significant technical skill.
And what happens when a one-liner prompt becomes a complete STEP assembly with toleranced and QC’d drawings on a rogue air gapped text-to-CAD system? Complete synthesis from canonical prose, heuristics, and structured data fed into an agent automation? Asking for a friend.
