@charles_casillo: Natalie Wood gave a devastating with a performance as the frustrated teen in Splendor in the Grass, garnering her a well-deserved Academy award nomination. #nataliewood #eliakazan
This is such a great movie and Natalie Wood was amazing. I think the actress who played the teacher was also the evil mother in the Sybil tv movie.

I’ve seen this film a thousand times, but always watch it again whenever on TCM. Natalie Wood gave her best performance under the brilliant direction of Elia Kazan. Great cast, including NY theater actors such as Barbara Loren and Zohra Lambert.

Such a good movie. So sad, though. Wordsworth is saying that no amount of wishing can return us to those perfect moments when ordinary grass and flowers seemed almost transcendent. But then comes the turn in the poem: “We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind;”
This is the heart of the passage. Instead of mourning forever what has been lost, we should value what remains. Love that poem, “Ode: Intimations of Immortality”, by Wordsworth.

I was born in 1956. There were so many things about this movie and, btw, several of her movies that broke something in me and yet the scar healed and made me stronger. I adored her.
