I have an answer for this! Back in 2008 my debit card info was skimmed at a gas station. The first thing they did was donate $14 to Croplife America before spending $200 at an ARBYS (mind you this was 2008 prices too!! Did they buy it for everyone in the restaurant??). Then it overdrafted my account and they couldn’t buy more because I was a broke college student. I was told by the bank that apparently they will often donate a very small sum to a charity as a way to test that the card is working before they go on a spending spree. The Trevor Project may’ve just taken longer to post than the other charges in your case.

My debit card information was stolen once but they forgot to update their shipping address so everything they bought was delivered to me. I got 5 bouquets of flowers, 5 Ipsy boxes and 4 memberships to the Nature Conservancy. I felt sooo bad calling to ask for the memberships to be refunded 😭
