Pleasant Place Psychiatry :
Self-silencing can feel protective at first, but being heard is an important part of healthy relationships and healing. 💚

Well my narcissistic mother never let me react when she used to poke at my insecurities. Took me a good 40 years to actually let me feel, react and say ”yes I’m feeling X” and let ppl see my feeling

I’ve had a terrible weekend and this just summarises why. Because I am involved with someone who does this (argues vehemently against my needs and feelings)

Thank you. I have learnt something new. My grown up son (and his wife) are both emotionally immature and unaware of how the way he speaks to me affects me despite him knowing my trauma history. I have walked away ten weeks ago but it means I have been unable to see my lovely seven year old grandson who we saw every week. He will be missing us. My son and his wife have reached out but I have just withdrawn completely. I live with my 17 year old son and he is amazing.

Many people learn to stay quiet to keep the peace. Healing often includes finding the safety to use your voice. 🌿
