Watkins Glen State Park— located in Watkins Glen, New York is one of our absolute favorite hikes. This beautiful trail is a mile and a half long with 19 waterfalls of all sizes, nestled in the heart of the Fingerlakes. This trail is gorgeous in all seasons, but personally my favorite is fall. The hike is pretty comfortable in general. Some people consider it more of a walk since the majority of the trails are stone and there isn’t much elevation unless you are taking a rim trail or ending your hike at the upper entrance. The upper entrance trail can be difficult for some because of Jacob’s Ladder. That staircase can certainly be a challenge— but it is the closest entrance to take if you want to catch this unbelievable view. Watkins Glen State Park is just out of this world. Which also means that it can get SUPER busy. That can make this hike miserable. So do keep in mind, to experience the slowest days I recommend going a little off-season, as early as you can in the day, and during the week since weekends are typically busy. When you can catch this place with less people… it’s just unlike anything else. Truly. I felt child-like wonder again for the first time hiking through here as an adult… 🥹❤️ It’s a super special place.
