I’ll be honest—I used to believe that working nonstop was the key to success. I thought the more hours I worked, the better the results would be. I was constantly chasing the next goal, the next achievement, the next opportunity. But over time, I realized something important: being busy is not the same as being productive. The truth is, when you never slow down, you start losing focus. Your creativity fades. Your vision becomes smaller. Instead of seeing opportunities, you become consumed by problems. You keep moving, but you’re no longer moving forward. That’s why I’m grateful for my wife. She taught me the value of rest. She showed me that taking time to recharge isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a necessity. Rest gives us the clarity, strength, and perspective we need to keep growing. Even God rested on the seventh day after creating the world (Genesis 2:2-3). And in the Fourth Commandment, He calls us to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy (Exodus 20:8-10). God didn’t create rest because we earned it. He created it because we need it. For many years, I believed success came only through working harder. Now I understand that true success also requires wisdom—knowing when to stop, rest, and spend time with God. If you’re constantly working but never making time to rest, reflect, and seek God, you may be missing the very thing that will help you move forward. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause, recharge, and trust God with what comes next.
