@lee_theocdtherapist: OCD recovery was never about getting rid of thoughts. It was never about getting rid of feelings. It was about stopping compulsions. The checking. The reassurance. The Googling. The analyzing. The endless attempts to feel certain. Because OCD isn’t powered by thoughts. It survives on compulsions. I offer everyone a free 30-minute consultation where I can learn your story, teach you exactly how OCD works, and how to break this cycle for good using ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), the most effective form of treatment for OCD. If you’d like to work with me moving forward, amazing. If not, you’ll still leave our meeting with helpful guidance and clarity. Please DM me CONSULT and I will send you the scheduling link. Hey Lee is I’m 15 and worried I may have OCD my dad has had it since his mid twenties and when ever I get sick or feel injured I always end up going down a rabbit hole and end up worried about it for days on end. Also just of recent like today I was holding a steak knife while eating a sirloin steak for dinner. And I started to feel worried and had thoughts that scared me which hasn’t really happened before. If you can I would like your help. I want to know how to face this and conquer it

Hey. If i let these thoughts be and make me feel anxious, what does non-engagement exactly mean? Is it a compulsion,if i label it as a lie or ocd symptom and try to think about something else? Or do i say that and still keep thinking and making myself more anxious? Or is saying anything to the thought already 'engaging'? I think, at this point anything could turn into compulsion and i'm not sure if i'm doing erp right.🥺 Thank u✨

What should I do in the moment? I always tell myself that’s the anxiety/ocd and try and disassociate myself from those what if thoughts or just negative thoughts. I then try and shift my attention outwards in the present moment.

i tried doing exposures but i am still doing compulsion without noticing so it is only getting worse, the best thing i tried is practice not doing compulsion first then doing exposures that way exposures never my problem anymore

The most eye opening thing I have been told by a therapist… “Your fear isn’t something your children should bear.” It completely changed my perception on my OCD when it came to my parenting.

One of my big break throughs was when i realized that overexplaining and only feeling released if you tell someone your thoughts is also a compulsion

is ERP something you can start on your own? I'm in the UK. NHS waitlists are long and I'm struggling to find anyone that does ERP privately here. I tried talk private therapy because it was all that was available but she just kept reassuring me 😅

I’m glad I saw this because I’ve stopped responding consistently for at least 3-4 weeks now. Anytime a thought enters my mind or a feeling I’ve been saying “you can focus on that but I’m good right now” and the thoughts have gotten quieter but now today they’re coming in more and I’m like here we go… but this message helped remind me it’s not about the thoughts/feelings stopping
