Because I said so :
Fascinating! What I've lost loved ones my body instinctively knew that I had to wail and grieve and cry outwardly and if I didn't I would be miserable internally. like something would feel off inside of me and so I had no choice but to do this or else I would be incredibly disregulated. so it's nice to hear actual documented science and ancient ritual around the act of wailing and grieving in community. I still believe that doing this minutes after my sister passed with my brother and my mother helped me to process my grief in a way that felt safe

I remember saying "this would heal me." when I watched that Scene in Midsommar, where the women start to echo Dani's panic attack. Once they're in rhythm, she is able to breathe through her feelings.

Not having a safe place to grieve created the effects of an autoimmune condition in me. After being diagnosed, suddenly I was given space to grieve and learned that it was just high cortisol. According to Freud, "Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways."

my practice/business is almost this (I have Irish heritage & carry ancestral wisdom in me) - I call it shadow work & emotional alchemy, but my offering is essentially allowing people into my energy and helping them find the source of their trauma/grief and then expressing it all. many people have told me that their transformation with me is more effective than months or years of therapy. hearing this vid made all the hair on my body stand on end - felt like this is the roots of how I know what I do.

Thank you for sharing the history of expressing our feelings and how important it has always been. It’s so cool that expressing our emotions in their totality through sounds and facial expressions not only supports the processing of that emotion but also can create a greater capacity in the body for experiencing those emotions in the future if accompanied with intentional touch. Dr. Raja Selvam created a modality called ISP (integral somatic psychology) that does exactly that. I think you would find his work very interesting. Love your passion for this work🥰

Can you talk about anger and safe ways of expressing it? Especially in motherhood when you feel overwhelmed often?

If fascia has become very restricted due to chronic stress, how long does it typically take to recover once the nervous system is regulated and stress levels are reduced?

This is everything 👏 so many people feel unsafe to express BREATH, song & screams. My community breath work sessions when people are screaming, laughing and crying together is the the TEA

We never had a service for my sister and I felt we didn’t give her the moment of communal love she needed to pass on. It kinda bothers me sometimes.
