25 year old keys are worn out. If you copy the key, the new key is worn out too. Get the key cut from the VIN code. You can get the code from the dealership for free.

5 years ago I bought a key for my scion for $5. Had a local place cut it for $10 and I bust open the internal and move it over. Today, the local place is gone. Every where you go won’t cut the key and said they have to program and cut it. Cheapest place is $75. How the times has change and consumers pay the price.

No Mazda Cx50 available as Mazda safety/security much better so Batteries plus can’t help you on a lot of vehicles that have enhanced security.

I bought a remote/ key from my local ACE Harware store. They cut the key and programmed it to my car in 3 minutes. I’ve had it for over 3 years now. No issues. Dealer was over $300. I paid $118.00. One has options. My new key doesn’t have the Chevy symbol on it. I’m ok with that.
