I want to scream this from the rooftops: learning the science of exercise doesn’t just change your body, it changes your mind, too. And this is potentially the more life-changing aspect. Because once you realize you don’t need to smash your body, you have less “guilt” for taking days off. You don’t feel like you’re falling behind if you do a shorter workout when you’re busy. You enjoy vacations instead of having anxiety about being off your plan. Here is the science that rewired my brain: Muscle can be built with low volume (short workouts) Sweating doesn’t matter Light to no muscle soreness is ideal Exercise isn’t very effective for fat loss, so smashing yourself to burn calories isn’t productive Muscle comes back faster the second time you build it I could go on and on.
