logistically speaking the Mongols achieved one of the biggest empires in history with approximately 100,000 calvary almost completely self contained, compare that to any other empire builders needing ten times the manpower and supply logistics

The US military is build for a quick win through brute force. They move in with lots of fancy equipment and a large number of soldiers, dump everything they got on the enemy and hope to conquer the ashes. But if an enemy is able to prolong the fight, they run of steam and it ends in chaos and retreat. Imo the most supirior military in history are/ were the Romans. Not only did they build sustainable bridges and forts, but they managed to integrate foreign force into their own, having them fight for THEM.

The US military seems incredibly risk adverse. They have an expectation that they can devastate their opponent easily and quickly, not have any equipment damaged, and have zero injuries and deaths. People are shocked when a soldier fighting in a war where misiles are flying and people are dying gets injured.

The most sophisticated and lethal fighting force is a sales pitch that’s all it is. If the US was truly the powerful, lethal and sophisticated fighting force, they wouldn’t need small allies to join them, but those small allies are their “puppets” like Canada.
