@alas.andro: Someone jokingly asked if I brush my hair 100 times a day. The answer is actually the complete opposite. 😭 I brush it about once a week… when I wash it. Unless I’m deliberately doing a new style (curling it, braiding it, etc.), I pretty much only use my hands to smooth the surface and work out a few tiny tangles. I know that sounds crazy, but I genuinely feel like it helps both the retention and the appearance of my hair. A blowout is a style. It’s not my hair’s natural state. So once it’s set, I don’t really see the point in repeatedly disturbing the ends. Whenever I brush through it every day, it starts looking scraggly, broomy, and frizzy way faster. In a weird way, I think of it similarly to how people with curlier hair textures use protective styles. I’m basically keeping everything in one collected “mat” until it’s ready for a full service again on wash day. 😅 The funny part is that my hair is super obedient. I don’t even wear a bonnet to sleep or do anything particularly special. This just happens to work really well for me.
